Breathing And Suffocating. (2018)

For this project, I have explored the theme of breathing and suffocating. I was interested in looking at what can happen to the body when you can’t breathe, as well as, how it can leave marks on the outside. I have researched about situations like how a stroke happens and what happens when you choke someone or how scuba divers breathe under water and airplane oxygen masks. The reason why I chose to do about this subject is the fact that there have been times in my life where I felt like I was stuck in an unpleasant situation, thinking that I want to escape and in a metaphorical way, feeling like I’m suffocating. I have created ceramic pieces that can be worn on the face, like masks so that people can feel that asphyxiating feeling by either wearing or touching/seeing them.
